This is going to be a short one, just a couple of things before we go into the new year.

A friend of mine told me that David Arnold is scoring the 2010 Narnia movie. What happened to Harry Gregson-Williams? He is scoring the Wolverine movie in 2009, but what is he doing in 2010 so he can’t make a score for the Narnia movie? My mind started creating these terrible thoughts. What if he’s taking a year of rest or worse, stop creating scores for movies.

CloverfieldCLOVERFIELD

It’s less than 2 months away, and we’re all a little curious about this movie right? A great PR campaign and the hype has got us all excited. So we know this is a monster movie, and I’m expecting a few actions scenes and crushed buildings. That requires music, right?

So who is actually making music for this? I am unable to find that out. Does anyone know? Is it some unknown composer or part of the secret viral campaign? When I see this movie, I will closely listen to the score. It should be a great score I’m sure.

Well, that’s my little New Year’s Eve update. See you all next year!

I’ve seen the preview a few times now, and I’m not exactly sure that there’ll be music. The movie seems to be along the lines of the Blair Witch Project, in that hand held camcorder style.

Ah ok, it’s a shame if there’s little or no music, but if they want to be special, that might be one way of doing that. Hans Zimmer said in an interview that he wants movies like that, with little or no music for important scenes, and maybe he has a point.

The feeling I got from the preview was that they were going for realism. As in, you are watching footage from someones camcorder that was discovered after the cloverfield event.

Well, whatever it is they are going for, I hope it works. A tiny bit excited about this movie, a tiny bit ;)

Just found some quotes from the film director Matt Reeves: “…no musical score at all — just source music and well-orchestrated ambient sound.”

So there you have it. It made me a little less excited about this to be honest. Still going to see it though.

After watching the preview, I felt a little bit queasy. Not going to be an easy movie to get through if you get motion sickness.

Can’t be worse than the Blair Witch Project, surely? I remember reading about people storming out of cinemas puking because of the shakycam. Don’t know if that was true or part of the hype though.
