It’s been a fun week with lot of interesting stuff happening on the web regarding the thing we love most, soundtracks. I’ve gathered a few good ones for you to visit and explore before the next week starts. In short: Ennio Morricone is 80, WWE Smackdown Vs. First of all, happy birthday Ennio Morricone who became 80 years old on Monday. Here are some of his greatest hits:

WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2009 soundtrack was revealed last Sunday. It will feature the following licensed music:

Twilight is officially at the nr. 1 spot on Billboard Top 200 Album Charts this week with an amazing 165.000 CD’s sold in it’s first week of release. This is the largest debut of an Atlantic Records music album. It features songs by Muse, Paramore, Linkin Park and Collective Soul. It also features one song by composer Carter Burwell, but there will be a full score release on November 25th. It’s doing well in the Amazon sales charts as you soon will see. Congratulations to Atlantic Records!

Pinky G has written an an introduction to Video Game music. Some of it I have never heard of, but Metal Gear Solid 4 is there, yeay! Check out part 1 here.

Hans Zimmer has been in the news this week with the disqualification of The Dark Knight from the Academy Awards this year. Speaking of which, me and Christopher Coleman of Tracksounds has collaborated again for SoundCast Episode 2 where we talk about this decision and more. It will be up tomorrow so keep an eye our for that. Meanwhile The Hollywood Reporter has an interesting Q&A with the man about the transition from Kung Fu Panda to The Dark Knight and who he would love to twork with in the past + Frost/Nixon. Halo the complete soundtrack is due for a release on Dec. 2nd. It includes all music from Halo, Halo 2 and Halo 3. If you already own those however, there is no need for this one as it doesn’t include any extras.
