Avatar soundtrack coverDecember is almost here and do you know what that means? It’s Avatar time! Or more importantly if you are a soundtrack geek such as me, James Horner time!

I have been highly anticipating this for some time and now it’s almost here. Yesterday Atlantic Records revealed the soundtrack with a full song by James Horner!

Aren’t you excited?! The sample sounds fantastic, but what is puzzling is that the track “Into the Na’vi World” isn’t on the official soundtrack.

Never mind that… it sounds fantastic. Just listen to it below.

Here’s the full track list:

01. “You don’t Dream in Cryo….”
02. Jake Enters His Avatar World
03. Pure Spirits of the Forest
04. The Bioluminescence of the Night
05. Becoming one of “The People” Becoming One With Neytiri
06. Climbing Up “Iknimaya – The Path to Heaven”
07. Jake’s First Flight
08. Scorched Earth
09. Quaritch
10. The Destruction of “Hometree”
11. Shutting Down Grace’s Lab
12. Gathering All The Na’Vi Clans for Battle
13. War
14. I See You (Theme From Avatar) by Leona Lewis

The CD is around 80 minutes and that means long wonderful cues by James Horner. Simply breathtaking stuff. Just listen to the sample below. The part from 1:12 is spectacular stuff. Can’t wait to hear the rest! The soundtrack will be released on December 15th. Have a listen and tell me what you think:

Maybe the track is a under a different title or is including in a suite?

It’s too short to be a full cue from James Horner ;) . I’m betting it’s part of a longer cue. Sounds great though.

I’m excited and can’t wait to hear the full score!

Me too! December 15th can’t get here fast enough!

I am excited too but I just wish soundtracks came out at the same price as standard albums (e.g. £8.99).

Absolutely. The digital version is $9.99 though, but this is one soundtrack I need physically to add to my Horner collection. Love that cover too!

Reminds me of Adiemus (Karl Jenkins). Looking forward to this!

Haven’t heard that one, but if it sounds like this, it must be pretty good. Reminded me a bit of Mighty Joe Young and Badelt’s Time Machine which isn’t a bad thing at all. I need this! Musical medicine!

Excellent! A real coup for James Horner, especially against those people who say he can’t do anything original! What I’ve heard here and on the official site doesn’t seem to contain any “Hornerisms” so far. I’m counting the days until this comes out!

Original or not, I always look forward to a new James Horner score and this sounds like something very special. Can’t wait!

Can’t wait to get this one. Just like the hype that surrounded Titanic, this film too seems to be getting the same publicity. I prefer Horner’s action music, so Avatar should have plenty of that.

Agreed. Horner makes great action music and I believe there will be plenty of action in this one.
