Hans ZimmerAccording to The Hollywood Reporter, Hans Zimmer is taking on his first video game-only project with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Not only is this one of the most anticipated video games coming out this year, but it just became one of the most anticipated video game scores as well.

I for one can’t wait to hear what Zimmer brings to the Franchise.

This is the fifth game in the series (Not counting expansions). Michael Giacchino did the first one, Graeme Revell did the second one, Joel Goldsmith did the third one and Harry Gregson-Williams & Stephen Barton did the fourth one.

With Zimmer’s name attached to this, it will surely be interesting to see what he comes up with.

Can’t wait for the game. I think the special edition may come with a soundtrack CD too. Although, I probably have to double check that. I was very impressed with Call of Duty 4’s score. So, hopefully another top composer, such as Hans Zimmer will be able to do a very good job of this game.

Note: This is his first job on a video game apparently.

The game is going to be great, however, they did drop the “Call of Duty” from their title due to whatever reason I haven’t heard yet. So, the correct title is “Modern Warfare 2″

Since Zimmer is conducting the score I know it will make the action and story more intense. :)

I think the ‘Call of Duty’ could be coming as it is on the box shots but it’s like Infinity Ward want to make this separate from the awful Treyarch developed Call of Dutys.
