Presented by Tommy Pearson, they will be joined by composers Trevor Jones and Patrick Doyle and possibly George Fenton and Alexandre Desplat in this fantastic event. Wait, there’s more! Great video, wonderful to hear that the trumpet player who blows the opening note of the STAR WARS title crawl, was there for his first day with the LSO when he did that! I saw Williams in concert 10 years ago and it was astounding to hear all the classics performed with a power that cannot be captured on CD. As well as the established cues, I remember being utterly floored by the selection from the then-just-released SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, an incredible score and I believe his most underrated. After the assorted STAR WARS soundtracks, it’s my favourite. His most moving I think.

John Williams is such a brilliant composer and a great man. He is one of the few composers who has written memorable music that will still be remembered and loved 100 years from now. I have a particular liking for The Memoirs of a Geisha myself, but there are so many great Williams scores to chose from that we are indeed being spoiled (not that I mind).
