The return or Retro Wedensday is finally here, but it will be very different this time around. In other words there won’t be just a bunch of videos. I plan to feature old film scores from 1920s up to the year 2000. I may be old, but I think the 90s is pretty retro and it so happens that The Rock by Nick Glennie-Smith, Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard will be the first retro review. That will be up next Wednesday.
There will be some lists, some classic reviews from even before I was born! So get ready for the return of Retro Wednesday! Hope you all enjoy it!

The 90s is retro, because that sound – which was so classic and ride in the action genre is long gone! Dead and buried. One of many reasons I wish we were still living in ‘92-97! Love the scores of this period! I gotta get going on a bunch of articles already I know, but I wanna review TWISTER – other musts that someone needs to cover: Bad Boys, Speed, Con Air, Armageddon, Face/Off, Terminator 2 , Broken Arrow to name just a few in action alone!

90s is a great decade for movie music because it has a special sound the same way the 80s has. I see I got you all excited which is great! Would love it if you reviewed Twister. Speed and Bad Boys are two equally impressive Mancina scores. The famous Terminator sound created by Brad Fiedel! Awesome stuff. Broken Arrow has an amazing theme. Twin Peaks was great! Have to review music from season two. The Hunt for the Red October had a cool sound not to mention the Star Trek offerings of the 90s. Almost forgot Home Alone, another John Williams classic and Hook of course. The Rocketeer. Remember Hot Shots! and Part Deux? Love those! Basic Instinct is one of Goldsmith’s greatest in my opinion. 1492! The first score I ever bought! The Last of the Mohicans, one of the greatest scores I have ever heard. There’s a lot more! The Nightmare Before Christmas, Rudy, Jurassic Park, X-Files, Dragon The Bruce Lee Story, Dragonheart, Forrest Gump, Karate Kid, Stargate, Millennium, The Crow, Lion King…
Well I love the 90s…. so bring on the reviews! We would all love to read them, listen to the scores and remember a great decade.

Mancina is also responsible for some classic Outer limits cues. I don’t mean the older Outer Limits but the newer ones that were featured on Shotime.

Mark Mancina is still doing good. My review of the newly released official score for August Rush will be online next week so check back for that.
