“A non-stop thrill ride, period”

Army of Two is an Action Packed videogame developed by EA games and centers around two private military contractors. They fight battles all around the world in a timeline spanning from 1993 to 2009. For the score they hired Trevor Morris to create an exciting score. Now the question remains, Did he succeed?

Packed
What immediately comes to attention is the fact that this cd is packed. 33 tracks on one cd. The 33 tracks have a length of 66 minutes which makes the average track length around the 2 minutes. Is that a bad thing? Not on this cd. The tracks are long enough for the material your getting. The cd consists of a lot of high octane tracks. The length makes sure the tracks aren’t to dreary.
Fast-Paced
The CD kicks off with the track Lock N’Load, A high paced action track which pumps up the adrenaline nicely. This track immediately sets the tone for the rest of the cd. Raw nonstop action that doesn’t stop till the last track is finished. The cd delivers the feeling of being on the battlefield constantly. Trevor Morris mixed the loud sounds with some exotic tunes like the use of Arabic sounds in “Strange Land”. These sounds keep the score fresh and doesn’t make the score 100% one dimensional.
Love It Or Hate It
Fresh or not, You won’t like this cd if your not into the more “modern” scores. That may be a big statement but this score is up there with the Likes of Paul Haslinger and Tyler Bates. That’s the type of sound you should expect. If you are more into John Williams or James Horner, this isn’t your thing. Trevor Morris has gone the all out action route on this one. It has some slower moments but then immediately kicks back into gear to pump up the adrenaline.
Conclusion
I could go into detail with the tracks of this score but the fact remains that the score for Army of Two is a non stop action packed ride. It will please action lovers like myself with 33 tracks of pure adrenaline music which fits the game perfectly. The negative thing about this score is one of the things I also said in my earlier review of Command and Conquer Red Alert. You will only like this if your really into “modern” soundtracks. A nonstop thrill ride, period.
