I love sports movies, and this was a good one. It’s something about these movies that awakens me. You’ll find me cheering on the heroes, hoping and praying that they’ll get a last second winner (which surprisingly happens a lot). I also love the comebacks. The comebacks are great, especially when they come from these unlikely underdogs. It’s inspirational, not only for entertainment purposes, but for life. The music of course plays an important part to build up the mood through defeat and victory. This song by Trevor Rabin captures that. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the movie, but this song is heroic, it’s the time for heroes to be heroes. Listen to it and you know what I mean. There’s also disappointment here, because this score has never officially been released so the only way to get this is through p2p networks unless you happen to know someone in the biz. This is a great score in its entirety, and this song is proof of that. Enjoy!

So, what are your favorite movie scores / soundtracks of all-time?

Do you have any suggestions for me - scores I should check out? To be honest, I’m really looking for some b-movie kinda stuff, music similar to Grindhouse, or old classic sci-fi creature features, any ideas?

Hmm, too many to mention, but if you like the music to Grindhouse, you might like Sin City. As for classic sci-fi creature features, how classic? Look for composers Herman Stein, Henry Mancini, Hans J. Salter, Milton Rosen and Irving Gertz. They composed for quite a few 50s sci-fi movies.

Trevor Rabin tends to get a bum rap…he’s not a great composer but his works tend to be enjoyable. I especially like “Armageddon.”

Matthew Lucas’s last blog post..“I am a believer in Joy Division, fuckin’ hallelujah!”

[Reply]

Yep, he is overlooked and I can see why. He is not a great composer, but he is a great musician. Armageddon is great!

I loved this movie, and the soundtrack was perfect. I am not a big sports fan, but I love sports movies as well.

Monique’s last blog post..Whoa! Is That Pee Running Down My Leg?

It’s such a feel-good movie and who else better to make music for it than inspirational maestro Trevor Rabin. I wish this soundtrack could get a proper release. More people needs to listen to it.

Dear SG,

How can I find a copy of Trevor Rabin’s original score for Remember the Titans? I can’t find it online anywhere. Please advise.

Thanks,

Jason

That’s because it’s never officially been released, but it’s out there and if you really want to find it, you can.
