How does one define beauty? Perhaps there is no definition, but this song comes pretty close. In addition to being beautiful, this song has special meaning to me. This song got me seriously interested in film music. I had never thought of the music in movies much before that beyond the main themes, but this changed everything. 1492 by Vangelis was my first ever movie score that I bought, in fact I think I have bought 5 because I played them so much the CD’s got worn out and still to this day it’s still as beautiful as ever. I’m sure you have heard this song before, but if you haven’t, lucky you to hear such beauty for the first time. Enjoy!

I’m going to have to completely agree. That score is marvelous.

It’s timeless. I bet I will still listen to it and love it 50 years from now.

I’ve really been enjoying your blog since I joined LAMB. It’s nice to see someone focus on the soundtrack of a film, which can leave a lasting impression long afer leaving the movie theater.

I got married back in June and every single song during the ceremony was from a movie soundtrack or score. I got loads of compliments on the music, but nobody knew where it came from. It was much better than using the traditional Wedding March and Canon in D:)

High praise! I’m flattered :) . Glad you like it! I wanted to make something like this for along time, but didn’t have the know-how or the time, but now I do and I’m happy that people are enjoying it. Music is such an important part of movies and TV, and you make an excellent point. It’s also a device to remember the movie after you’ve seen it.

Wow, that is a great idea! I’m getting married in August this year and this is something I would have lots of fun with. It’s interesting though because in our “intro” we plan to use Unchained Melody from Ghost, but to expand it with more great music is a wonderful idea :)

For me it all started with what I walked down the aisle to. I’m way too modern to use “Here Comes the Bride” so instead I used the theme from “Little Miss Sunshine” which is really just an instrumental version of Devotchka’s “How It Ends” but it worked perfectly for a processional. After I had that in place, I decided to use all movie music, everything from “Pan’s Laybrinth” to “The Fountain” to “28 Days Later.” It was probably one of the more creative wedding soundtracks out there.

Haha 28 Days Later. It’s a great soundtrack though, but I can only think of death and mayhem when I hear that. My wedding is a buddhist one though, so I’m not sure what it will be like in terms of music, but the party after the ceremony should be a viable option.
