Academy Award Best Score and Best Song winners

Atonement by Dario Marianelli

Congratulations to Dario Marianelli for managing what Alexandre Desplat, John Williams and Tan Dun couldn’t do in the last 10 years, win the Golden Globes for Best Score and win the Oscars for Best Score in the same year. It’s been quite an amazing year for Dario Marianelli as he has been scooping up every award there is for Atonement. I really thought the rat would get it though. Listen to it below:

Falling Slowly by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova (Once)

This is a pleasant surprise as everyone tipped a song from Enchanted to win this category (including me). Enchanted was nominated for 3 out of the 5 songs, and especially “Happy Working Song” by Amy Adams is on my mind. Once is a completely different song and I’m really happy it won. It’s an alternative rock/indie song and if you like this, you’ll love the other songs on the album. I’m so happy it won. Listen to it below:

  4. Deserving winners, in my opinion.
Falling Slowly was the best film song of the year, just above Eddie Vedder’s songs from Into The Wild.

There will be blood had the best score - but Atonement was the best score Nominated.

Loved the Oscars this year - loved ‘em!
