The International Film Music Critics Award nominees for Best Original Score - Television are:

So, we have 5 TV shows here, but where is The Tudors by Trevor Morris or even 24 by Sean Callery? Ok, rant over, let’s get on with it shall we? I must admit that I haven’t seen any of the TV shows here, well not this season anyway. I used to watch Lost and Battlestar Galactica, but now I follow about 25 TV shows, none of which are nominated. Since I am such a sucker for TV, movie and game scores however, I have of course listened to them all, except Lost Season 3 which is nowhere to be found yet, but I suspect it will be more of the same like season two and one.

Battlestar Galactica Season 3 by Bear McCreary is a good score, but not as good as the previous seasons I thought. It is a dramatic score, but I always thought it had kind of an ethnic sound to it, and not so much sci-fi. Doctor Who might be British, but Murray Gold’s score for Doctor Who Season 3 is as American as they come. That’s not necessarily a bad thing though, it has a very nice sound to it and it looks like a contender. Lost Season 3 is probably going to be released soon, and it has it’s dedicated fans. Personally, I don’t like it very much. It sounds more like Dolph Lundgren’s grunts in his early acting years. It is sounds, just placed into some sort of madness. Well, I think I might actually like it after a few more listens like I did with the There Will Be Blood Score, no comparison of course. Tae Wang Sa Shin Gi or The Story of the Great King and the Four Gods by Joe Hisaishi is totally unknown to me, but it has a great score! It sounds Chinese in nature, and I love the Chinese type of sound. Tin Man by Simon Boswell is a sci-fi channel miniseries I believe. The score is quite bland to be honest, with no real lows or highs.
