As soon as I saw the movie, I just had to get the soundtrack. I’ve had it for a while because it’s been digitally available on iTunes since December 11th. Already it’s reached the number one spot on SoundScan’s Digital Album sales chart and rightly so. Now it is finally available in retail stores and Amazon. The soundtrack is as quirky, awkward and funny like the movie. Whenever I hear it, I smile because it reminds me of something from the movie. It’s basically an indie album which suits the movie perfectly. It kind of reminds me of the Pulp Fiction soundtrack and I’m sure the Juno soundtrack will reach cult status in no time.
So what’s on the Juno soundtrack?
- Barry Louis Polisar – All I Want Is You
- Kimya Dawson – My Rollercoaster
- The Kinks – A Well Respected Man
- Buddy Holly – Dearest
- Mateo Messina – Up The Sprout
- Kimya Dawson – Tire Swing
- Belle & Sebastian – Piazza, New York Catcher
- Kimya Dawson – Loose Lips
- Sonic Youth – Superstar
- Kimya Dawson – Sleep
- Belle & Sebastian – Expectations
- Mott The Hoople – All The Young Dudes
- Kimya Dawson – So Nice So Smart
- Cat Power – Sea Of Love
- Kimya Dawson & Antsy Pants – Tree Hugger
- The Velvet Underground – I’m Sticking With You
- The Moldy Peaches – Anyone Else But You
- Antsy Pants – Vampire
- Michael Cera & Ellen Page – Anyone Else But You
Some of the names might be familiar to you if you are weird and old like me. The only “mainstream” song that’s on here is Mott The Hoople – All The Young Dudes, I’m sure most of you will remember that. Everyone should buy this soundtrack right now and play and smile. It will definitively get you in a good mood.

Beautiful minds’s last blog post..Alexa rank increased.! Statistics reveals!
Interesting. I use Firefox so that should be easy enough to implement. I will try it and let you know what happens. thanks for the tip!
I LOVED the soundtrack. Having listened to it several times now, I feel silly for thinking all the songs sounded the same when I saw the movie. They’re all really different but with a similar flavor, I kept thinking (stupidly) that they were playing different parts of the same song throughout the movie. The Moldy Peaches song is my fav, but I’m liking more of them as I listen.

Haha yeah, it’s different, but the same. I don’t know, maybe if I didn’t see the movie, I would have liked it less? Could be that it’s one of those soundtracks. I will never know now, because I watched the movie before I got the soundtrack.
Thanks for stopping by Jess
I’m beginning to love Juno more and more. Yes, the soundtrack is one of its most amazing feature. I’m a big big big fan of Ellen Page and this movie is really hers!
Oh my word…Juno…..I loved it, and the soundtrack is AMAZING. Quirky is not annoying, something most reviewers have said about the soundtrack, but your review, of my fave films amazing soundtrack…..is great
Your blog is really cool, I cannot wait to come back and read more great posts.

Jed: It’s quirky, original and just feels refreshing. Ellen Page made the movie in my opinion, but the other characters added so much flavor to an already delightful movie.
Nick: I love quirky! That’s not a negative word in my vocabulary at least not when it comes to Juno. I’m really happy you enjoyed it Nick, your blog is great. I will be a regular there for sure.
First of all, I meant to say “later”. *oops*
Me too, quirky is great, and Juno knew just how much to utilize without going overboard. I loved “The Moldy Peaches” and Kimya Dawson before I knew about Juno, and I think it is great that their/her popularity has grown a lot over the least few months.
I wish Ellen would win the Oscar this year, but I don’t think it will happen. Imagine if Juno won Best Picture, it would be one of the few that have won and managed to have a best-selling soundtrack.
I would be glad to have you

I had not heard or The Moldy Peaches and Kimya Dawson before Juno, and i love it when i “accidentally” discover music from watching a movie or a TV series. The music was made for this movie and vice versa. Happy it works out for Kimya Dawson who would be just another unknown person in the music world if it hadn’t been for Juno.
Ellen to win the Oscar and Juno for Best Picture. I couldn’t have said it better myself. I want it to happen, but I don’t dare to believe it. Here’s hoping!
I was on the fence about this soundtrack since it had so many folksy songs on it. After listening to it, I have to admit, it is quite good. I’ll have to make it a part of my permanent collection now.
TheCriticalCritic’s last blog post..Movie Review: Witless Protection (2008)
I did like the movie a whole lot…I am mixed about the sound track though. I wonder if this is just me or it happens to a lot of people. I liked the soundtrack according to the movie but not really a big fan of just listening to it outside on my ipod. It is/was just not my cup of tea. Just wanted to get my two cents in.
Hmm, interesting. Well, i can relate to you. A lot of movies are like that for me. Sometimes the soundtrack is great within the movie, but outside of it you can’t find much pleasure in it. The human brain is complicated so I won’t try to find an explanation to why it “works” for some people and not for others.
which song is the one that says “and if you wanna cut yourself remember tah i love you, and if you wanna kill yourself remember taht i love you” so on so on. i not sure which one it is driving me nut i want to buy but unsure how to find not knowing which song it is!
Hi Becky,
That would be Kimya Dawson – Loose Lips
“so if you wanna burn yourself remember that I LOVE YOU
and if you wanna cut yourself remember that I LOVE YOU
and if you wanna kill yourself remember that I LOVE YOU
call me up before your dead, we can make some plans instead
send me an IM, i’ll be your friend”
Great song by the way.

Soundtrack Seek
I could surely stand to give it a full listen, as the soundtrack didn’t make much of an impression on me during the film. Yeah, the closing song was great, and it was funny when she thought All the Young Dudes was some hidden gem, but the rest just kind of slid off my back.
There’s some good acts there, to be sure, but twee-pop (namely, Belle and Sebastian) doesn’t usually do it for me. We’ll see…
(PS – I wish you had a subscribing mechanism for your comments so that I could get an email when there are replies. My only complaint.
